Once again, thank you for subscribing to Our Boot Camp Smiles Program! Below you’ll find detailed instructions on how to set up your shop for the sale, how to promote the sale, and how to process our Smiles coupon at your etsy shop. To keep things simple, please take it one step at a time.

We suggest that you start promoting your sale as soon as you can. So that you may answer any questions your customers may have, we suggest you review our entire guide as soon as you have the chance. We have provided six steps as outlined below. Simply click on the topic of interest to be directed to a complete explanation.

Email the coupon code to friends and family members, post about your sales on your blog, in the forums, and on social websites!
- Handling and Processing the Smiles Coupon
Once you get customers smiling, you will need to process the smiles coupon by either sending a revised invoice or by sending a refund.

Spring for a deal {name your deal!}
The campaign you subscribed to is our “Spring for a deal” coupon promotion. With this coupon, customers will receive the deal that you’ve decided on, this sale will run from from June 10th thru June 25th inclusive. Customers will submit the coupon code “”.
Please DO NOT discount your items at this time, we’ve found it’s best to just allow customers to use the discount coupon when purchasing. It also allows customers to see the full price prior to your sale!
Once your store has been placed in the Smiles Coupon Directory. Please take a look at the list on June 10th: http://indiesmiles.com/directory. Please check all links and the Smiles category that your store is listed in. If there are any discrepancies, please let us know as soon as possible (wrong image, wrong category, malfunctioning link, etc.). Indiesmiles will not be held responsible for any errors, so please check your listing carefully! Let us know immediately of any changes.
It’s simple to prepare your shop for our upcoming smiles coupon campaign.
Prepare your banner: Please use this image that is attached to the email you received from us and add it to your store banner. Please see this as an example. If you need help with inserting our partial banner, we will do this for you in our Extra Smiles Graphics Package. NOTE: you are not required to do this but it will give you additional exposure to potential new customers! (note : BANNER TO FOLLOW BY EMAIL)
Copy Store Banner: Please use the above banner as prepared above on June 10th (NOTE: you are not required to do this but it will give you additional exposure to potential new customers!)
Copy Avatar: Please upload this Avatar image on June 10th and take it down on June 25th (NOTE: you are not required to do this but it will give you additional exposure to potential new customers!)
Shop Announcement: Please include the following phrase in your Shop Announcement. You may expand the coupon to apply to custom, wholesale, and PIF items. However, you may not add further limitations to the coupon. (NOTE: you are not required to include this info in your announcement but it will give you additional exposure to potential new customers!)
SALE! GET {put your deal in here} “Spring for a Deal” coupon code “SRINGFORADEALBOOTCAMP” from June 10th thru June 25th with the Indiesmiles.com Program. Upon checkout, please enter the coupon code in the “notes to the seller” portion at the point of sale and wait for a revised invoice from seller. **The Spring for a Deal” coupon does not apply to custom, wholesale or PIF items.** For more information, such as limitations and how to redeem, please see the coupon: http://indiesmiles.com/directory.
Deactivate listings if necessary: The coupon applies to all items in your shop except custom, wholesale, and PIF items so please inactivate any items that you do not want to have covered by the coupon
Smile! We provide tools you need to help you promote your sale.
Email and post the Smiles Coupon Code around the internet! Share it with anyone you wish but don’t abuse spam etiquette.
Tag your eligible items with ”Spring for a deal” so customers can find your sales easily.
Post on your blog, website, and various social websites like Facebook, Twitter, and Myspace. If you like, copy the avatgar image and feel free to use it around the internet, either link them to a post on your blog or website or to http://indiesmiles.com/directory.
Tweet for SPRING FOR A DEAL and follow us on Twitter. Twitter has grown leaps and bounds as a tremendous marketing tool! To help users search for the ”Spring for a Deal” Sales for this promotion, use the coupon code SPRINGFORADEAL as you twitter so that any user can find your sale posts. The Twitter code will change when this particular sale ends. Feel free to use this tiny url to direct Twitters to the Indiesmiles Directory – http://tinyurl.com/freesmiles .
Word of mouth: Use word of mouth, and promote in the forums, your website, and your blog. You can use your methods of spreading the word about the sale! We encourage you to spread the good news by circulating the link to the Indiesmiles Directory at http://indiesmiles.com/directory.
Store Banner: As already mentioned above, we have provided you with a partial Smiles banner image for you to add to your store banner. Please review the previous section for information on how to update your store banner.
Avatar: As already mentioned above, we have provided you with our Smiles avatar for maximum exposure of your sale on Etsy. Please review the previous section for information on our Smiles Avatar.
Smiles have arrived in your inbox and so its time to process your orders.
NOTE: Some customers may redeem the Smiles coupon but pay in full for the item(s) ordered. You are obligated to refund any customer who redeems the Smiles coupon code at the point of sale. We have included instructions on how to refund using Paypal.com (see below).
NOTE: A customer may forget to redeem the Smiles coupon code at the point of sale. It is at your discretion whether to honor their request as you are under no obligation to do so. Please use your best judgment.
***IF you have a stand alone website and your own shopping cart (not paypal) you may wish to handle the coupon code differently. Please contact us if you have any questions on how this should be handled****
Sending a revised invoice through Paypal.com:
***These instructions apply only to paypal. If you are using some other method to collect payment, you will need to follow the procedures of that provider.***
If the customer provides you a coupon code at the point of sale and does not pay for the item, send them a revised invoice as follows:
- Jot down the amount of the sale (excluding shipping) and the customer’s email address.
- Sign into your PayPal.com account.
- Click on the “Request Money” tab.
- Click on “Create Invoice.” (See a screenshot here.)
- Fill out the invoice reflecting the amount of the sale (excluding shipping).
- Click on “Continue.”
- Check your invoice for errors, and if correct, click on “Send Invoice”.
***These instructions apply only to paypal. If you are using some other method to collect payment, you will need to follow the procedures of that provider.***
If your customer pays for the item, and provides the coupon code at the point of sale you will need to refund the amount that they paid over and above the sale amount.
- Make a note of the credit that you will provide and the customer’s paypal id.
- Sign into your PayPal.com account.
- Find the customer’s transaction and click on “Details.”
- Scroll to the bottom of that screen and click on the “Refund Payment” link (see screenshot available here – thanks to loosewirestudio!)
- Enter the amount of the credit and click “Continue.”
