I’m a twenty-something year old Torontonian (Canada) living with my musician husband, and two super-hero cats.
Working as a Project Manager, I was inspired by a friend to use one of my everyday tools (MS Visio) to create my wedding map. Combine that and the wonders of Adobe Photoshop, and you have yourself a quirky homemade wedding map. I was quite impressed with my handy work, and created a few more maps for other brides. A little background: Before I became part of the corporate “rat race”, I always made my own holiday cards. That went away 8 years ago and was lost until I got engaged last year. It was having a budget and being forced to DIY with a lot of the wedding decor, I rediscovered that I enjoyed making quirky crafts. Almost a year later, I’m now making weddings maps for other couples.
My family has always been supporting in every adventure I take on. My husband is actually my secret worker bee when it comes to using Photoshop. I’m clueless with Photoshop (shhhh).
It’s pretty cool that I can work from home or Starbucks! Basically wherever my computer is. After doing my wedding map, and a couple of freebies, I realized that not only did I enjoy doing it but I could make a profit from my “craft”. Since opening my etsy store in Sept 2008, I have over a handful of sales. Not surprisingly, I started getting these sales after promoting my product via my blog and by doing giveaways on other blogs.
I will also be introducing compact mirrors, and other fun-ness to my shop. Maps are just the beginning
When not making maps or at my day job, I spend my time helping other brides plan their wedding. Be sure to stop by my blog and say hello and leave me a link to your work! I love seeing how everyone else explores their creative side, and better yet, referring you to my couples

Alison
